LiveClick makes it easier to distinguish Live Bookmark items that you've already read from the ones you haven't. By default, read items are "faded out."

You can change this style to a number of pre-installed styles. Other options include "Read items are not displayed", "Unread items are boldface", and "Custom style".

Important! LiveClick uses your browser's history to determine when Live Bookmark items are new/read/unread. If you clear your history (manually or automatically), all Live Bookmark items will revert to "unread" status.

How do I use my own custom feed reading style?

If you prefer something other than the built-in styles, you may use your own custom style. To do this, add a few lines to your userChrome.css. Here's an example:

.bookmark-item[liveclick="read"]
{ color: red !important; }
.bookmark-item[liveclick="unread"]
{ color: green !important; font-size: 20pt !important; }

Edit your userChrome with these lines, restart Firefox, and select "Custom style" as LiveClick's "Feed Reading" setting. The text of read Live Bookmark items should be red, while the text of unread items should be green and absurdly large. Be sure to include the !important directive; otherwise Firefox may ignore your styles.

Mozilla has more information about editing the userChrome.css file.

Why do "read" Live Bookmark items become "unread" again?
LiveClick uses your browser's history to determine when Live Bookmark items are read or unread. If your history is cleared, all Live Bookmark items will revert to "unread" status. If this is a problem, try setting the History option "Remember visited pages" to a higher number of days. You may also wish to avoid using the "Clear Browsing History Now" and "Clear Private Data" options or external programs like CCleaner.
